Our Values

"Education is the most powerful weapon which   you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela
The Early Years

The early years are the most important and impressionable time in a child’s life. We provide a stimulating, healthy and positive environment for children to grow and learn in. Our skilled staff members help them to develop into caring, responsible people with positive attitudes and values.

The diverse range of activities and experiences offered in our nurseries are developed with the young child’s emotional, social, physical, aesthetic and intellectual development in mind.

We achieve this by:

  • Providing security and safety

  • Encouraging a sense of self confidence and self esteem

  • Encouraging independence, a sense of responsibility and awareness of the needs  and feelings of others

  • Promoting communication skills and affording the children opportunities to interact with peers and adults

  • Developing dexterity, hand-eye co-ordination and spatial awareness

  • Extending language and reasoning skills

  • Managing opportunities for children to direct their own learning and make reasoned choices, ensuring they learn through real and direct experiences

  • Engaging concentration and listening skills

  • Fostering creativity and the use of imagination

  • Enabling children to express, recognise and understand their feelings.

We help your child to grow emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially. As your child gets older and develops intellectually, we introduce a pre~school programme linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage. When appropriate, we introduce phonics, writing, shapes, basic computer skills, science, mathematics, and literacy to support children in developing readiness for school.

We are OFSTED inspected and through play we provide experiences in the seven main areas of learning, which are: Mathematics, Understanding of the World, Physical Development, Expressive Art and Design, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Literacy, Communication and Language. These all prepare your child for school and beyond. You will regularly receive information from us about your child’s progress, activities, achievements, and next steps.

Nightingale Nursery Castle Donington has a secure garden to the back and side. It has an artificial lawn area both in our upstairs and downstairs outdoor areas. We use shades and canopies to facilitate outdoor play throughout the year. We have a large selection of outdoor play equipment and a climbing frame which support your child’s evolving gross motor skills.

Philosophy

Play with a purpose

The best way to learn is through play.

Our philosophy of ‘Play with a purpose’ means we offer a wide range of activities which, through play and experience, lead the child to practice, understand and learn.

We offer carefully planned and evaluated activities to enable each child to develop at their own pace and to reach their own potential.
